About:

Lily Holladay is an undergraduate student majoring in Applied Physics. She started at BYU in Fall 2022. After serving a mission, she joined the Underwater Acoustics group with Dr. Neilsen in December 2024.

Lily grew up in Springville, Utah, where she found a love for science, music (including playing the violin), and running. She is the second of six children and loves her family dearly. Her philosophy is that life is for learning, growing, singing, dancing, working, and laughing all at once.

Research:

Lily uses passive sonar to infer the acoustical properties of the seabed. She is investigating the use of deep learning (convolutional neural networks) to make Bayesian inversion methods for these properties more efficient.
